Department of Criminalistics

General information

In the Department of Criminalistics different kinds of materials found at the crime scene are examined, i.e. bits of car paint, glass, plastics, microfibres, fingerprints , footwear and tyre impressions, toolmarks, gun shot residues and fire debris as well as inks and toners present in writing or print on questioned documents. Handwriting and voice examination are also performed. During anthropological examinations, a person’s appearance is reconstructed based on measurements of his/her skull. Other kinds of activities undertaken are reconstruction of an event (fall from a hight, homicide, fight) and assessment of the types of traces and their possibility of occurrence on the basis of analysis of case files and material evidence.
